India has a kids apparel market worth over ₹13,000 crores. This market is growing at over 10% annually, which makes it a great opportunity for manufacturers to find their place in this market. Compared to other apparel markets, unbranded clothing or new clothing brands have a great opportunity to make it in the kid’s garments industry. This is mainly because a majority of kid’s clothing is still unbranded, and parents don’t seem to be too bothered with finding brands when it comes to kidswear.

So, given that you may have a shot in this regard, how do you get started? The first thing would be to create a brand and set up your business with a manufacturer. But what if you don’t want to work with a manufacturer? What if you want to manufacture yourself? Well, in that case, the manufacturing technique we’re going to be talking about might just be a lifesaver for you. What is this manufacturing technique? Let’s find out.

Heat Press Machines: Easiest Way To Manufacture Printed Kids Garments

Heat press machines have been around for some time, and they are what most personalised gift-making shops use to make personalised t-shirts for you within an hour. Even though these machines are now readily available and almost anyone can use them, it has not made them less popular in the apparel manufacturing industry. When it comes to manufacturing printed garments, this is still one of the best and easiest ways to do it. Now, with any machine, there are advantages and disadvantages associated; the same applies to a heat press machine. So, let’s briefly look at how to use a heat press machine.

How To Use a Heat Press Machine

Before you learn how to use a heat press machine, it is crucial that you know about its functioning. This very simple machine has four parts, and with their combined functioning, printed graphics are attached to fabric with heat. Here are the four components of the machine.

  • The Heat Plate: As the name suggests, this plate heats up and is used to apply pressure to the fabric.

  • The Lower Plate: The lower plate is the one on which the transfer is placed. The fabric or material is placed under the transfer before the heat plate is brought down to put pressure on both of these elements.

  • Pressure Adjustment: There is a knob on the machine that is used to adjust the pressure that the heat plate will apply on the lower plate. This pressure differs based on the type of fabric and the type of transfer you are using.

  • Time & Temperature Controls: This is the last part, which determines how long the machine is to function and at what temperature.

Now that you know the functioning of a heat press machine, let’s review how to use it.

  • Step 1: Preparing the Design: The design can be hand drawn or computer generated. It just has to be made on special sublimation paper, which can transfer its content onto fabric when pressure and heat are applied.

  • Step 2 Machine Setup: The heat press needs to work on a temperature and pressure setting based on the transfer and the material you are using. Figure out your desired settings and put up the machine for preheating before starting the process.

  • Step 3 Transfer: Make sure you lay down the material (fabric) on the lower plate completely flat without any wrinkles. Place the transfer over that, and once the machine is ready, bring down the heat plate and start the transfer process.

  • Step 4 Checking The Completed Product: If the process goes all well, the sublimation paper should have transferred the design onto the material. Remove the sublimation paper from over the material carefully and let the material cool down. Once done, your printed kid's garment is ready to be labelled and packed. It is that easy.

Conclusion

Printed kid’s garments are undoubtedly one of the most popular clothing options due to how colourful and fun they can be for the child.
